NEVER AGAIN! Manager should be ashamed!.
I WILL NEVER EVER EVER EAT AT THIS DENNY'S AGAIN.
Granted it is Denny's and I don't expect gourmet food but I always have a satisfactory time at the Windward & Waikiki locations.
My boyfriend & I strolled in on Sunday May 1, at around 12:45pm to the Pearl Ridge Denny's seriously craving some breakfast foods. As soon as we opened the door to the restaurant we were hit with ear piercing screams of kids running wild through the store. 3 different hosts were confusing each other while attempting to seat us each in a different location. When we finally sat at a booth we were right next to the kitchen and the family of 5 who repeatedly yelled at their 3 screaming toddlers to "SHUT UP". Now, my BF is a kitchen manager/trainer for local CPK's so he was watching the kitchen staff closely. Being able to hear the kitchen staff yell while you are trying to enjoy a Sunday brunch is a little unpleasant but what they were yelling about was disgusting... a cook was exclaiming how hurt/burnt his eyes & face were from the rising heat, now IF HE HAD ACTUALLY BEEN WEARING HIS HAT like kitchen staff are supposed to it would have protected him a bit but it would have also protected the poor soul who's food HIS FOREHEAD SWEAT WAS DRIPPING INTO, wiping his head with his hands and then continuing to cook! The kitchen manager joked back at him saying "ha, that wouldn't happen if you had a hat on", manager my a**. We noticed plates in the window waiting to go out for 5+ minutes, the tables on either side of us hadn't been occupied since we sat ~20minutes and still weren't bussed. When one table was finally bussed the 3 staff it took to clear the table hadn't even bothered to pick up any of the dropped food, napkins and silverware from under the table!
At this point we contemplated leaving since our server told us the kitchen was swamped with orders (restaurant was at maybe 60% capacity) We finished our weak cups of coffee and were about to leave when our food arrived. That's when we lost our minds. Server produced a cold chicken fried steak for my BF and the wrong meal for me and when I asked the server said he thought I ordered the regular and not the 'slam', either way the order was still wrong and not at all what the menu stated for what he thought I ordered or what I actually wanted. The 2 measly pieces of French Toast that I did get had unidentified bits of 'not French Toast' on them, as did the silverware. The top piece for French Toast was hiding the badly torn & butchered second piece hiding under it. That was the last straw for us. We headed to the cashier (there was no host in sight), explained our absolute disgust, offered to pay for our cups of coffee and left, NEVER TO RETURN AGAIN!
pretty bad!!!. Pretty bad when the waitresses dont know whos table ur at and the people behind and in front of u get served. Had to call manager on cell phone from table to get someone to come give us water at least
NO Class! ! !.
I wasnt really happy with anything this evening.
Unhappy Hostess, Old Lady Waitress, Confused Manager, and cold food.
HOW could this be?, all in one night, in one spot.
Upon my arrival I was greeted as if I was a bother to the hostess interrupting her conversation she had with the waitress.
My family and I was sat with no menu. I waved down some man and told him that I needed a menu, I think he didnt understand english and told me to wait. I stood up and got my own menus.
Our waitress arrived and didnt offer drinks, I had to ask for it. I also asked for specials of the evening and she said let me see if we still have. Waitress never came back til 8 minutes later with no reply in regards to the question I asked about. I thought okay she has a bad memory , whatever.
We ordered, food came out cold, sent it back, still cold, sent it back again, waitress giving attitude like Im a bother. Im keeping my cool 2 minutes pass than 5 minutes pass, WHERE'S my food? once again I stood up and asked for a manager, the waitress asks me WHY?...... what a "DitZ"....... I didnt explain my self.
Manager approaches our table I explained the situation and he shows little response. All he said was let me talk to the server Thank you......his grin was like the Cheshire cat in Alice in Wonderland a fixture on his face that is embedded there for life with no expression.
Im angry, lost my appetite, my server sends another server to give me the check.
No apologies from my server, No offerings for dessert.........HORRIBLE! ! !
NEVER EVER will I set foot in there again.
GENERAL MANAGER needs to do some MAJOR face-lifts in that unfriendly environment.
Known for its breakfasts, this diner chain slings all-American grub and bottomless cups of coffee..
With its kid-friendly vibe, booth seating and late-night hours (most stores are open 24 hours), Denny's draws night owls, seniors and families with kids. The menu sticks to classic American staples: wings, chicken strips, burgers, salads and the like. But breakfast is king, with specialties ranging from skillets, egg scrambles, French toast platters and several variations on the famous Grand Slam: two buttermilk pancakes, two eggs, two bacon strips and two sausage links.
Service slowly improving. Denny's Pearlridge service have made leaps and bounds over the past couple of years. In the past, you were literally ignored from the host to waitress to the manager. Now everyone seems eager to help. The food is your typical comfort food and they have enough variety on the menu that should please everyone. This one is frequented by the military and its dependents because of its familarity. My recommendation though, is drive a quarter-mile down to Anna Miller's Restaurant for better quality food and better service.
