Given that Hawaii's weather is balmy and warm for most of the year, snow cones or shave ice is a year-round treat. With its super-finely shaved ice that melts sublimely on your tongue and a rainbow of fruit syrup flavors to choose from, Matsumoto's is widely considered to be one of Oahu's best shave ice shops. Expect a fairly long line on any hot, sunny day or any weekend, but the wait is always worth it. A refreshing delight after a trip to the beach. For an extra special treat, get it with ice cream or Japanese azuki beans on the bottom.
Pros: Fine shave ice, Fast service, quaint location
Cons: usually a line, touristy, street parking
