Horrible place and horrible service!!!
My brother is visiting from out of state and we wanted to go bowling so I called and talked to someone to find out what the hours were and I was told they were open until everyone is done bowling. I was like that's great . The guy went on to say usually they are open till midnight but would stay open till 2am if people want to bowl. So me, my brother, my husband and his friend walked in to this place last night (thursday) at about 1030pm. There was no music and it was just old and kinda creepy inside but we decided to check it out anyway. We stood at the counter for a few minutes while someone that had a Pali Lanes shirt just looked us up and down. Finally another guy from a side room slowly walked up to the counter and said they would be closing soon. I was suprised and said " you are closing" the guy was very rude and sarcastic saying "yes that's what i just said". Then I told him how I just called and was told they would be open till midnight or 2am. He said I am the only one here and I didn't talk to you. We were mad but just left we didn't want to go where we weren't wanted anyway. I thought maybe I called the wrong number so I called the same number I called from my phone and yep the same guy Aaron answered. It kinda killed our night because we were all so upset about how rude the guy was and how we were treated that way for no reason.
What bowling is about

I'll agree with Hunter here, bowling at Pali Lanes is a flashback in time - but isn't that what most lanes are about? Only thing missing is the smoke and The Dude.
Pali Lanes are closing for good December 19th, 2009 so get in a couple games while you still have a chance. There'll only be 2 public lanes left on Oahu!
- Pros: Old-school ambiance, Ron Artis painted walls
- Cons: Old-school ambiance, crazy loud cosmic bowling
Bowling is bowling...

I agree with the previous review to an extent... The place is very under-staffed, it's dirty, and there is the classic bowling musk in the air.
But that's almost what a bowling place is all about. If germs are a no go for you, then stay away. Otherwise, the only complaint I have is that the lanes are over-waxed. I go every time I'm in town.
- Pros: Low crowds, conveniently located, fun with friends
- Cons: Under-staffed, over-waxed lanes, inexperienced staff
This place really stinks

Pali Lanes in Kailua is dirty, rundown and unfriendly. It's really too bad because I have three boys who would love to be able to bowl, but the staff is so rude and place is so dirty we stay away... I would recommend that you do too.
- Pros: no pros except that there are actually lanes
- Cons: rude staff, lazy service, nothing for kids, families, dirty establishment
