Founded in Oregon circa 1953, this simply-furnished spot owes its success to its creative menu and fresh ingredients. Batters are made on the premises; a special "sourdough starter" keeps treats from tasting overly sweet. I went there with my b/f on a Sunday recently, and after about a 30 minute wait, was seated. We were greeted by a very cheery waitress who took our orders and the food was delivered in less than 10 minutes. The French toast was really good - some of the best I've had in Honolulu. Prices were pretty low too!
Pros: Friendly staff, tasty food, low prices
Cons: Long wait, small dining area
