AMAZING RESTARAUNT!!!. The food here was phenominal and I will go here again and again. I could definitely make this my "regular" place. The staff was so accomodating and friendly. The owner and manager came around numerous times to ask how people's food was. We started with an Antipasto then went on to the Insalata, and then the entree, finally finishing off with dessert. I cannot complain of anything here. They even make their own olive oil mixture for bread dipping and I wanted to drink it from the bowl. I have been to Italy numerous times and I can say that Auntie Pasto's fulfills your Italian dream with accurate foods from the country and even as far as the atmosphere...very family oriented and family friendly! GO! It's worth every bit!
Love it!. Love the stuffed mushrooms! I always leave feeling satisfied! Delicious!
Charming restaurant - good food!. My Grandparents lived on Kinau street when I was growing up, so we passed by Auntie Pasto's while driving to other destinations for years. For some reason, we never thought to eat there all during my childhood. I was always fascinated with the ambience the place emitted, however... the red and white checkered tablecloths and general warm glow of the interior - seen through the windows from outside. Finally, when I was a teenager and was asked where I wanted to go to dinner for my birthday, I rememered Auntie Pasto's. I was not disappointed with my selection. I enjoyed the sausage and peppers pasta I ordered immensely. Every time I have been here since, the service and food has been good. Now that I live in Portland, OR, I find myself missing Auntie Pasto's. I need to make sure I stop by on my next visit home.
The food is not what it used to be. Under cooked pizza crusts, changes in recipes , substitutions in main ingredients without informing the guests made for a most unpleasant dining experience.
Service Dillema.
The line out the door wasnt as long asI remembered it to be, 3 years ago.
I thought to myself GREAT! I havent been in there before let me check it out on a saturday night with guests.
I was standing at the door with my Niece and her Fiance',
NO one greeted us for a good 8 minutes.
When we were finally acknowledged and sat
NO waiter came by for a good 10 minutes.
I wanted to order some wine before appetizers
Waiter didnt offer something to drink.
No Friendly introduction was made upon our arrival.
I was a bit dissapointed, but held my composure. I practically had to tell the waiter that I wanted to order coctails and appetizers, he wasnt in the mood for the suggestive selling approach.
I wasnt quite impressed with the artichoke pizza, it was tasteless. I could tell that my guests didnt like their entree's as well, they didnt eat much.
Are these sauces prepared from a can? our waiter said that some of the sauces are homemade and most are can products.....That threw me for a Loop!
I thought that the owner was a real Italiano where the sauces are made from scratch.
I love authentic Italian food but haven't found any on this island. Is there any others that is not owned by some Asian fella' making up some kinda' pasta dish with chow mein noodles.
Little Italy...Big Portions.
Italian food is one of my favorites, so finding that authentic mom/pop shop is always at the top of the list when I travel. If you're not hungry, do not go here...you'll walk out feeling so stuffed you won't even need your belt any more.
Although it took a few minutes to be seated, the service afterwards was great. The restaurant was packed, and we got there around 9pm on a Monday night!
This is a great restaurant for couples or small groups. It's not too loud, but not overtly quiet either...just right if you're looking for a fun dinner.
Onto the food...it's incredible. It's really heavy so if you're looking for the light Italian food this is not it. The creamy pesto is just that...thick enough where you can jab it with a spoon and it'll still stand up. The italian sausage could be spicer but with the tube pasta it's a perfect blend.
You better be hungry or order family style so you don't end up rolling back to your car.
The pest pasta in Honolulu....
I have been to a thousand Italian restaurants in Honolulu and you can't beat this one if you are strictly going for pasta. Wow! I have been eating here for years and it never changes. Big plates, great food and the typical, old Italian low light cafe scene on which a date is a must.
Prices are great too!
Great Restaurant !!. me and my bf went there last week, we both order pasta, it was great, enough size and great price..
One of Honolulu's Best Restaurants. Auntie Pasto's is your classic little Italian restaurant. They have wonderful pasta and an excellent Caesar salad. Portions are large, my fiancee and I split a large salad and an order of pasta and had a little pasta left over. The prices are low and the service was quick and friendly. How lucky am I to be living within walking distance of this place. Definitely on my list for one of the best places to dine in Honolulu as long as you're not looking for something fancy.
Absolute BEST on Oahu. You want great food, service, and atmosphere? THIS IS THE PLACE. I always come here when in town. Full servings, service second to none on isle, and dishes only a true Italian ma-ma could make. Wow! What more can I say? There are "immitation Italian" places here... many to be sure, but THIS IS THE REAL ITALIAN of Hawaii. If you're living here or only visiting, take a cab from Waikiki Beach and enjoy a lunch (great price) or dinner.
