So good. When we came to Honolulu for our wedding so many people recommended SIde Street! I heard that Anthony Bourdain loves it so that is cool too. Dont expect anything fancy- the place looks like a dive bar but the food is pretty amazing. My favorite was the kalua sliders with lilikoi BBQ sauce- also loved the farmers salad. They are supposedly known for their pork chops but I didnt think they were very good- lots of gristle and fat. Definitely try the Rogue beer made specially for SideStreet ...

Best local restaurant, hands down. I've been going to these guys for years and love their staff and their food. The place is a bit dark and grungy, but the atmosphere is nice and friendly. But the real draw there is food... Farmer's Salad, famous pork chops, great deserts.

Bring on the fried food and sodium!. Tucked away in an alley is the legendary Side Street Inn. It is family style dining where you order a la carte and share. I would recommend the fried rice, pork chops, korean bbq, and sauteed mushrooms.

It's some good eating here.

Befitting its name, this Honolulu institution--a favorite of area chefs--is tucked away on a nondescript side street.. In Short
Chefs from some of Honolulu's top restaurants join locals at the bar and in the booths of this down-and-dirty spot on a side street near Ala Moana Center. Neon beer signs, a dart board, and a spirited, unpretentious vibe create a welcoming atmosphere for a lively crowd of local regulars. Diners enjoy pupus, tapas-style servings meant to be shared. Portions are flavorful, affordable, and large. Highlights include ahi poke, rib eye steak on a sizzling hot plate, barbecued baby back ribs in lilikoi sauce, fried rice, and the kitchen's signature pork chops.

Good, solid food served family style. YOU MUST MAKE RESERVATIONS FOR DINNER. At least give them a day's notice. You might not be able to get in on the day of (I know because my friend couldn't get us in). Otherwise, you WILL be waiting at the bar until a table opens. The food is worth the wait. Hot, flavorful, with very generous portions. All the smells and textures of local kine cooking. The only thing that was lacking was ambience. However, this doesn't seem to be the main reason why people go there. Even with the loudness of people speaking and the televisions turned to sports channels the food was DEFINITELY worth it. THE FRIED RICE IS TO DIE FOR!!!

Gourmet local kine grindz. We found Side Street Inn through a mention in Gourmet Magazine! Great food, huge portions so best to order family style. Don't miss the poke, fried rice and fried pork chops. The salads are good, too. They've added valet parking at dinnertime which makes access super easy. It gets very crowded at night so call for reservations if you can, otherwise try to find a seat at the bar for drinks and pupu while you wait. Keep your eyes out for big-time chefs like Alan Wong, who visit Side Street for some local comfort food.

big local food. Food is good but the atmosphere is not. You get to order at the counter and the food is brought out to you. All food is very abundant and is served in a styrofoam box. All local food, mostly plate lunches served with two scoops of rice, macaroni salad or tossed green salad, brown or white rice. All lunches are less than $10. Parking available accross the street in the parking garage. I had the furukake crusted mahi mahi. Three pieces of fish served with a hot mustard dressing on a bed of brown rice and a tossed salad with 1000 island dressing. My wife ordered the fried rice (enough for three) and a huge bag of crinckle cut french fries. Another ordered the teri beef (kind of chewy). Another ordered the cheeseburger (huge beef patty-larger than the bun) served with french fries.

Ambiance? It has none. A bunch of TVs showing sports. We ate amoungst the local workers (mostly men). Only open for 3 hours, so make sure you get there during the lunch rush.
