The Scene
Enjoy the royal treatment at this elegant eatery, located in the luxurious Halekulani Hotel. Service, combined with attention to detail is the true definition of excellence. The whispering sway of palm trees in the open-air dining room complements the formal atmosphere, but the vibe is anything but pretentious. Take in stunning views of Diamond Head while indulging in famed Chef Yves Garnier's classic French cuisine.
The Food
Fabulous French dishes are infused with local island flavor. Start with a salad nicoise or sample from the cheese cart as it rolls by. The delectable array of main courses includes Big Island lobster poached in butter and herbs, roasted duck breast and thigh confit, rack of lamb with a mustard crust, and a fillet of Kobe-style beef. A top-notch wine list has the perfect offering for any entree. Finish the meal with a sweet symphony of four desserts.

After having been disappointed on previous trips to Hawaii with the general poor quality and high price of the supposedly top restaurants, La Mer was a wonderful surprise. The meal (a four course tasting) was simply exquisite. The service, ambiance, and view were similarly superior. In fact, the restaurant compares favorably with the best in New York, London and San Francisco. A must-visit when in Oahu.

It stands out as the most International restaurant in the Islands. It has it all. The dressiest restaurant in Hawaii too.
