Editorial Review for Manoa Valley Inn – by Suz Andreasen
The Scene
The region of Manoa, located near the University of Hawaii, houses some of Honolulu's oldest homes. As a National Historic Landmark, the inn fits its surroundings perfectly. Built in 1919, the peaceful retreat still maintains an impressive array of Old-World luxuries, including a Victrola, antique billiards table, nickelodeon and a croquet set in the backyard. The hospitable staff ensures a pleasant stay.
The Amenities
Each of the eight rooms offers a unique inn experience. Single guests are treated to the high ceilings of the Baldwin Room, while larger families can choose to stay in the Carriage House. The less-expensive Dole, Davies and Dillingham rooms share a bath, but the low rates and clean upkeep are well worth the inconvenience. A typical day at the inn begins with a continental breakfast buffet and ends with a relaxing stint on the spacious veranda.
