great italian food!

I'm a frequent diner at Assaggio! I love the preperations of the ceasar salad at your tableside. The veal piccata is amazing! I also tried their steak salad that's a great meal in itself! i'm sure it's as authentic as you could get here in hawaii., but if you really want authentic, take a trip to italy!

Overrated Itallian

If your experiences in Italian Restaurants has been limited to those in Hawaii then the food here might seem pretty good. However, if you have had Italian food from a restaurant say in SF or NY than this will be just ok to you. It's not outstanding nor is it awful, although the quality sure don't match the prices. Unlike the other reviewer I had no problems with the service.

Stay far far away!

..unless you are in desperate need for some pasta and you don't know how to boil water. I came to Assaggio's for the first time last summer as I was referred to the place by a friend. Boy was I let down. I knew that I should have thought twice when I called to make our reservation and was given the go around and told to come much later than I had asked for. Not too long after we arrived, we were seated and then given our menus. Our server paid little attention to the questions we were asking in regards to the food, and instead seemed much more interested in ignoring us. This didn't end very quickly, especially when we need extra utensils, etc. Our food (and yes, I tasted everything at the table!), was far below average (which I guess I should have also expected since the owner and staff were nothing even close to Italian). I know that I was definitely put off by our bad customer service, but our server didn't check on us even once throughout our meal, nor were we offered dessert. I have told others not to dine here and would continue with that recommendation.

• Cons: bad service; unauthentic food
