over rated tour.
Bus were not air conditioned. A 2 hour tour was stretched to 7 hours. Were left most of day loafing in the sun waiting for the next move. Son got a heat stroke from standing all day in the sun.
The Arizona is underwater so we could see nothing.
The Missouri was impressive and historical. But too much time is wated on a trip that should last maximum 2 hours. A day later i took my rental car and revisited the Missouri in less than 1 hour, that was buying the ticket and visiting the ship.
Driver was friendly and nice. He milked the attack indefinitely. took us on a visit of the city and pointed many points. But this ended eating too much time.…
A few kinks, but a great tour.
When we vacation we like to do just that - be vacationers, not tourists. I usually don't like to use tour companies. That being said, a friend told me that the best way to guarantee tickets into
Pearl Harbor is to use a tour company, so I broke down and did it. He recommended Discover Hawaii Tours. We used the company for a day-long excursion to Pearl Harbor and historic Honolulu.
The weather on Oahu had been awful all week, but we were blessed with a little sunshine on our tour day. Unfortunately, we were not blessed with good traffic. Our guide, Hana, was friendly, knowledgable, and funny. He enlightened us on things not on the tour - great places to eat, surf spots, good people-watching, etc. He also knew all the back roads to help us skirt the horrible traffic on the H-1.
When I booked online, our tour package said it included the USS Arizona, the USS Bowfin, the USS Missouri, the Punchbowl National Cemetery, and a driving tour of historic downtown Honolulu. The Arizona was beautiful and amazing, but the Bowfin was not part of our tour (which I didn't learn until we got to Pearl Harbor). Way too much time was allotted for the USS Missouri. We could have used that time to tour the Bowfin. Instead, we toured the Missouri then found ourselves sitting bored for over an hour.
The driving tour of historic Honolulu and the cemetery were a nice way to wrap up the day. All-in-all a good tour though some timing could be reworked to include the USS Bowfin as is stated on the website.…
Great tour of the Big Island!.
We took the one-day tour of the Big Island from Maui, and had a great time. Our tour guide, Kalani, was warm, personable, fun, and full of information about Hawaii history and culture - I would
recommend him as a guide to anyone!
The tour included a good number of stops in Hilo, and we made the most of the day despite rainy & overcast weather. There were even a few nice surprises in the tour, including the appearance of sea turtles while we were stopped at one of the beach parks.
We toured much of the Volcano national park, though I would have been glad to have more time there. I felt like a young kid again, amazed by the power and magesty of our earth's primal forces. I would have loved to see a lava flow, but the conditions were not right - certainly can't hold the weather against the tour though :)
Overall, it was a great trip - filled with information, great sights, and a good atmosphere of enjoyment in the group. I'd certainly recommend the Big Island tour!…
Volcano Tour & Pearl Harbor. We used Discover Hawaii Tours for two tours on our recent trip to Hawaii: one to the Big Island and one to Pearl Harbor. Both of the guides were incredibly knowledgeable on all things Hawaii, entertaining, and talented (from storytelling to guitar playing - we were so impressed with the wide-range of skills that they both had). The guide for the Big Island tour (I'm not sure of his name...he said he went by John, but I'm pretty sure he was joking about that) stopped at a local market in Hilo where we were able to experience some local foods, and he was very flexible about the stops that we made - all depending on what the group was interested in. Tavita was our guide to Pearl Harbor, and he was an excellent storyteller to and from the memorial. They both were also very funny. The only downside to the Big Island Tour was that I felt like there was a lot of waiting (waiting on people to get off the bus, waiting on everyone to get back on the bus so we could go to the next stop, etc.), but I guess that is just the nature of a tour like this. Thankfully, the bus was small, which can't be said for many of the other tour buses that I saw. Overall, we had a great time on both tours, and we would highly recommend that anyone use this company. They were also willing to allow us to make a last minute change in our itinerary, which we really appreciated. Thanks for making our trip to Hawaii so great! We can't wait to come back!…
great tour of Hana. Our tour guide, Dennis, was knowledgeable, personable, an excellent driver on some hairy roads..
