Rainy day? Too much sun? Connect with Hawaii's past at this gothic, lava-rock mansion..
In Short
Step into the vast Hawaiian Hall and you'll immediately be transported back in time. High Victorian ceilings and wood moldings convey an era when life was simple and warriors ruled the land. Some of the most authentic hula shows on the island happen here daily at 11am and 2pm. Visitors come from all over to view the massive collection that pays tribute to an ancient and dynamic culture. Stroll past King Kamehameha's feathered cape and the museum's precious seashell collection before heading to the Kahili room, where an assortment of shields and feathered spears are on display. The Sports Hall of Fame showcases a different era, with memorabilia and photographs from Hawaii's golden days of surfing.

Nice at kamaaina rate.
Had a pleasant day at the museum...glad I only paid $7.95 to get in. I would be very disappointed at $14. Then again, living here I have seen many of the items on display or variations of them around town. The science building was unimpressive...many items did not work. Guess after living in Chicago with the Museum of History and Science and Industry it's a hard act to follow. I was hoping for more on the history of the Bishop family and the history of Hawaii rather than islands of the Pacific. Story teller was FANTASTIC. Feather garment display very impressive.
