The Scene
Known by locals as "the end of the road," Ke'e beach, (pronounced kay-ay) is located on the island's north shore at the base the world-famous Na Pali Coast. Hollywood has tried to capture Ke'e's beauty in movies like "South Pacific" and "The Thorn Birds." The best views, however, are seen from the water, where you can float in the crystal sea and look up toward the towering peaks of Na Pali.
The Experience
The snorkeling is fantastic, so bring your gear and consider purchasing some fish food--you'll have schools of bright yellow and pink ocean critters following you around. Get there early and you may glimpse a giant sea turtle feeding along the reef. The absence of a rip tide and dangerous surf make this a safe and pleasant place to take a dip. Landlubbers will be plenty happy lounging on a beach lined with lovely Kamali trees and hammocks.

ParkingThe lot fills up quickly as hikers tend to start on the Kalalau trail early and take up all the spots. Bring loads of water and lock your car. While Kauai is very safe, there have been thefts.

If you can't get there early, just come a at around 3 or 4 and you can get a space as someone is leaving. You will still have plenty of time to snorkel and soak up the sun. The sunset here is amazing and worth waiting around for. There is a rip current through the channel to the left, between the cliffs and the reef. Just stay toward the center or to the right and it is ok. Actually, the best part of the reef is toward the right, just past the breakers. Beautiful coral and fish. There are almost always sea turtles. It is a state park and dogs are not allowed, contrary to a previous review.. This beach is only accessible during the summer months when the surf is low. The large north shore surf makes in very treacherous in the winter time.

i was there 15 years ago, went back 3 straight years. loved the beaches, especially this one. my two children and i swam with giant sea turtles and their young. unbelievable experience.
Pros: back to nature, fantasies, immaculate
