No Aloha at Makino Chaya. In December 2008, I purchased a gift card which was lost in a house fire a few days later. I called Makino Chaya in hopes of have the gift card replaced. The person who I spoke to seemed more interested in taking reservations. She claimed she was the on duty manager and the gift card could not be replaced. She did not seem a least bit sympathetic in regards to my situation. Then she had the nerve to ask if I would like to make a dining reservation. Needless to say I hung up. I will NEVER set foot in this establishment! Very poor phone customer service.

Makino Chaya, Disaster. We went to Makino Chaya in the evening of the City Block-out (12/26).

We?re seated around 6:45p and waited for our first drinks.

some of us went get plates but even before I got up to get foods,

all lights went out around 7p.

There were no instructions, no flash lights. We just sat there in dark.

Then our waitress came to our table and handed us a check.

There was no discount taken from a full buffet price of $29 per person.

I went talk to the Manager, ?Chris?. The way he was handling the situation

was very unprofessional and emotional. He shouted at me as well as at other customers

?we?re not charging you for any drinks; you just have to pay for your food?

I protested ?I hadn?t had any food, yet. I don?t think it?s fair for you to charge

A full price? The manager, Chris was yelling at everybody and I could see he was really impatient and agitated. It shows the true Rank of the restaurants when encountered

Unusual situations. Makino Chaya?s Manager, Chris failed to demonstrate his managing-skill, instead he proved the whole world, his incompetency as a manager and lack of knowledge and experience in service oriented industry. Pretty sad?

Poor Service. Maybe this restaurant has so much business they don't need anymore because the person answering the phone is certainly turning people away before they even get in the door.

I called for reservations for Fathers Day and got the rudest person who obviously did not want my reservation. I asked her what kind of food was on their buffet and her reply was "Same as always". I asked if she could elaborate more and she said "seafood buffet". I tried once more asking what was on the menu and she was obviously annoyed as she replied emphatically, "SEAFOOD BUFFET!" She must have thought I had a hearing problem. Well, I think they don't need my money.

So Ono. Have eaten there quite a few times and it's always good food to eat. There is a good selection on sushi, sashimi, salads, cook to order and hot food items. The buffet is always well stocked with the food especially the crab legs. They are couteous and quick to make you happy. Have never waited more than 10 minutes on my reservation. The music is plesant as is the lighting. Sometimes hard to manuever between the tables, but the customers are friendly. The made to order sushi is right on!! I don't eat dessert too often but what they have to offer is small and light and not too heavy to eat after a good meal. I'm going to keep going until otherwise. A big favorite gfor my husband and I and the guests I have taken there so far.

Wonderful!!! Bargain priced but extremely good food!!!. Ate here for lunch today. For $12.95 all the fine sashimi, sushi, shrimp (many ways) crab legs, kalbi ribs, pepper steak, clams, mussels, noodles, fine rice, desserts....oh my!!

Food was absolutely excellent too. Not the typical all-tastes-the-same buffet fare. What a bargain and under $15!!

Evening has a made to order menu...how anyone could eat more is beyond me!! Dinner is $25.

Clean facility too. Clean bathrooms. Efficient staff.

Why aren't you there already???
