Best Honolulu Hair Stylist. I have always had a hard time with Beauty Salons because my hair is not easy to tame. My hair is very thick and on good days somewhere between curly and frizzy. I searched online for something different then your usual haircut. I was blessed to find Danne Todt who owns Infusion Hair Design. My first time in he made me feel so at ease that I didn't look into the mirror till he was done. I was stunned. I had taken a friend along for moral support, and we both looked up at the same time and she blurted out "My God she looks so sexy!" Danne is an extraordinary Hair Stylist, he literally changed my life with this fabulous hair style. I am 54 and people who have seen this beautiful haircut can not believe it is me when hey see me. I love it and I love him for creating such a fabulous hairstyle. In the past year I have had Danne do Japanese straightening on my hair and the results were perfection. He stresses simplicity which is the best way for most women. I just never knew it would be so simple for my hair to look this fantastic. Thank you Danne you are my miracle worker.
I am living in Honolulu and travel the world extensively, often in search of a new stylist wherever I happen to be. Meeting a new stylist and having them 'get it' is often an experiment - we girls know what a treasured part of our entourage a great stylist can be!
I met Danne Todt through his website, one of the first hits of my search and a great online personality of chic & professional mixed with great style and design. If my hair will be treated with the same design & care as this great website, then I'm in!
GOOD first impression!
I requested an appointment during one of the busiest weekends of the year, knowing that on the mainland I often have to book with 4-6 weeks minimum notice! Danne responded that he couldn't fit me in during the up-coming weekend (only a few days away; and marathon + holiday traffic at that!) but to be sure that I had an option for my requested day he was so kind as to offer to refer me to another stylist. I assume that a recommendation like that, ie. he potentially loses a new client to this 'other' stylist, meant that MY needs were put first.
GREAT second impression!
In no need for urgency, I scheduled an appointment the following weekend, with Danne, and had the best experience. He listened (and REALLY listened) to my long list of likes and dislikes, my challenges with curly wanna-be blonde in this humid climate, and all of my product questions to cure the many bad-hair-day-ailments.
As a result, I have great color (hair painting application) and a whole new product line to explore (he gave me a sample to try instead of pushing product which is so refreshing!). And, I am excited to trust him with my next hair-cut after brainstorming what would be best for ME and feeling confident that he can deliver.
I now have a trusted hair-stylist, and hair-care advisor in Hawaii; thanks to Danne Todt!
Excellent LASTING impressions!
Check out his Bumble & Bumble product as well.
Danne Todt. Danne has been cutting my hair over the past 20 years. I have the typical local Japanese thick hair which is NOT the easiest to work with, but Danne has done an incredible job...all these years.
Awkward Experience. I saw Danne for a haircut about a year ago and was quite satisfied with the result but could not afford to keep seeing him. However, recently I received an email from him inviting to make an appointment for an updo given that the holidays were coming up. Granted I knew it was a blanket email he must've sent to all previous clients but since I had a ball coming up, I made an appointment online. I then received an email back that he wanted me to call him. I gave him a call and was taken back by his response. He asked what I wanted to get done so I told him an updo for a formal event. He then said he only does updos for particular clients and refered me to another stylist. I felt like I just got slapped in the face! If he is particular about his clients, then why did I receive an email to make an appt. for an updo? This was a very unpleasant experience to say the least!
First of all I would like to accept full responsibility for this miscommunication. Although the Holiday email the reviewer is referring to, never uses the words "up do", I am aware that she interpreted it as such.
Since my initial training with "wash & wear" hair cutting at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in L.A, 24 years ago, I've honed my skills further for clients in Hawaii making hair styling easier by cutting hair in a manner which incorporates its natural texture. Natural looking hair color is also my specialty.
At this point in my career, I have chosen to specialize in the services listed above, and do not do "up dos" often, especially for special events.
Instead, I feel it is more professional to refer to talented colleagues that provide a higher level of satisfaction, as I did in this case. There was nothing personal intended, I do not recall who this reviewer is and hope to avoid this type of miscommunication in the future.
Danne Todt--Infuse Hair Design
Danne is a very talented hair cutter and a very nice person. I was in Honolulu for a week and Danne added tremendously to how I looked and how I kicked off my vacation. Most enjoyable person to relate to--very creative, friendly and intelligent.
My hair is thick and wavy. Danne had never seen my hair before but he didn't need to because of his long experience. He layered and texturized and made my hair look really good.
The last thing he did was apply a brush and blowdryer to my bangs just to add a bit of something something to the style. He swept the long bangs to the side--a bit of straightness in otherwise curly hair.
It was the finishing touch on one of the best hair cuts I've ever had.
The price was worth it, every penny.
Consistant & Focused Everytime!.
After going to Danne for over 5 years now, I can say I haven't had a haircut that didn't last at least 4 months. Granted my long straight hair will get flat after a few months, I always get compliments, by men and women. Sometimes the compliments come the day before my next cut!
Sometimes I blow dry, mostly I don't. My hair looks great either way. I use Bumble & Bumble's Brilliantine, which Danne recommended for me.
My husband wouldn't let me go to anyone else. He said, "Danne is worth every penny"! Even though he just goes to Supercuts! Jason also said my hair looks sexier than it used to! That's enough for me!
Good at first.
it's been months since i got my cut with danne. his cuts start at $80 for new clients and $68 after that. after reading such amazing reviews i decided to give him a try. i have super straight asian hair and he said the razor would give it more texture and volume. i remember loving the cut but after several months, it really wasn't great. granted, your'e supposed to get your hair cut every 2 months? i cant afford cutting my hair that often if it's going to cost $80 or $68.
during my session with danne, i told him i wanted to keep the length of my hair because i was a bridesmaid for my friends' wedding and wanted to be able to style it. he did keep the length, but there really wasn't anything to work with since he had razored so many layers into it. when i put my hair up, i had one of those little scrawny pony tails with nothing in it. that's one thing i didn't like from the razor.
i recently got my hair cut at j salon and loved it just as much as i loved the cut with danne. i just hope that this cut will last longer.
side note: danne does cut amazing bangs. i never had to blow dry them... i just swept them to the side and let them air dry.
Miracle Worker!. I went to Danne, and to be honest I am always very apprehensive about going to new salons, because the texture of my hair is so baby fine, I've had way more bad luck then good. I went to Danne, he asked me what I wanted..I showed him a photo out of one of his books he had at the Salon, I told him I know he wasn't going to be able to get it exactly like the photo..because of the texture of my hair,...and low and behold he worked his magic and I am not kidding..my hair looked JUST like the girl in the photo!!!! He made me very comfortable, he's got a GREAT sense of humor and he really takes his time. I will be going back! When I got home, my fiance couldn't keep his eyes off me! It's amazing how a hairstyle can change a person's looks!!
When my friend saw my hair cut, she said, "Those are the best bangs I've ever seen!" Several other friends echoed the same sentiment. And I never blowdried them either. He really gives me a great hair cut and it's wash and go. I have thick, long, wavy Asian hair and he knows how to cut it well without requiring me to
blowdry. I love the ease of scheduling appointments online. I always go to him for my bangs. I tried others and they were not nearly as good. Did I mention that it's so amazing that I don't need to blowdry my bangs and they look great?
If you come to Danne, just let him do his thing and your hair will turn out beautifully, trust me. I have the most bipolar, difficult hair that has driven many a hair dresser to tears and Danne gave me a great style that can be replicated with minimal fuss. It's gorgeous.
Danne is also extremely professional and gives you tons of great tips while he is doing your haircut, so you actually know what is being put in your hair, and how it will affect it. He takes the time to learn about your daily hair care routine and makes sure to correct you on anything you do that could be damaging your hair without you knowing (such as the type of leave in conditioner you use could actually dry your hair out, who knew?)
He suggests tons of great products and you'll come out of the salon with more hair knowledge than when you came in, guaranteed. ANd above all, you'll come out of the salon with a great hair style. Really really great. Basically I just sat in the chair and said "work your magic". And he did. And my hair looks marvelous.
