Relaxing and beautiful

This is a very quiet and peacful resort. The beaches are great and the water is warm. The empoyees are helpful and friendly. The resteraunts are great! A magical place.

The differences in peoples stays seems strange.

Having stayed here many times in the past before purchasing property in Ko Olina I am surprised at the disparaging comments. The property is lovely, the staff warm and gracious and I always start to feel myself relax upon arrival. I know from traveling that one bad incident can cloud the entire stay experience so ask for the general manager or front desk manager if something goes wrong. If they then don't take care of it then something is wrong. Marriott is typically known for their high quality training.

FYI: The noise at Disney next door is much quieter as they finished putting the top on last month. They are stuccoing the building right now. For photos and Ko Olina tips, go to: blog dot beachvillaresort dot com

This massive hotel opened in 1993 on the island's quiet leeward side. The property boasts secluded white sand beaches, manmade lagoons, Kramer surface tennis courts, a Ted Robinson-designed golf course, a marina and a destination spa. These 640 acres were formerly a sacred spot where ancient Hawaiian royalty played. Perched above a lagoon, the guest rooms are housed in a sleek 17-story high-rise. Suites have marble baths with deep-soaking tubs and oversized lanais with teak furnishings. The resort is home to a spectacular and ultra-pampering spa that offers one of the most extensive menus on Oahu. For dining, you can choose from a luau extravaganza and eight gourmet restaurants that serve everything from Mediterranean and Japanese to Hawaiian. Beach and water activities are plentiful, and the resort has designed a three-mile coastal trail for guests. While most amenities seem geared for adults, this is a great place for families since the resort has a fabulous year-round program for kids.

Fantastic Desserts

We were staying at the Ihilani so went there for desserts one evening. The Tiramisu was fantastic. Didn't try the food so don't know about it.

I'm not sure what one of the previous reviews is talking about when saying you need a suite in order to have an ocean view room. We had a regular room and had a rather spectacular ocean view. We stayed here to get away from the hustle and bustle of Hawaii and it truly was the best decision. We had just about every meal on our balcony and when we did decide to go to Honolulu for dinner one night, we immediately turned around and went back, knowing we had the best seat in town all along.

True, you NEED a car to get here, but you need one to get around the island anyway.

Overpriced hotel + a kiddy pool

I dreamed of spending my honeymoon in a beautiful hotel with a balcony overlooking the ocean. So when I asked that this point be guaranteed upon booking my room, Marriott LIED to me. I disovered the truth upon check in - you CAN'T get a real ocean view room unless you book a SUITE. Our view consisted of an industrial park.

I thought that being outside of Honolulu would be a good thing, BUT, this property is located on the dry, barren, poverty-stricken side of the island - something else Marriott isn't going to brag about. To go anywhere or do anything that isn't associated with the hotel, you MUST have a car.

So, if you'd like to be held captive in an overpriced hotel, where their "award winning restaurant" has below-average food, & the pool (& hot tub) is crammed with noisy kids, this is the place for you!
