I had the exact same interaction with Segundo when I went in to enroll at 24 hour fitness. He was so rude and tried to persuade me that I wasn't a Hawaii resident, simply because I go to school on the mainland. I have a Hawaii driver's license, I vote in Hawaii and my permanent address is in Hawaii. I understand that these clubs have rules, but he was a completely rude and unprofessional about the whole thing.

I recently moved to Hawaii and was interested in joining a gym. I have never been a member of 24-hour fitness, although I had been a day guest of a friend over 3 years ago in California. The 24-Hour Fitness in Hawaii Kai was very close to my new home so I thought I should give their free 10 day membership pass a try. BIG MISTAKE!!! Segundo Saguid, the assistant sales manager that "helped" me was extremely rude. After he showed me the facilities and gave me the required information on the gym, he refused to issue my free 10 day pass that I had printed directly off their website. When I ask, "why?" He said that many students come into town visiting their families that have no real interest in joining their gym. When I assured him that I hadn't been a student for over 4 years (yes, I was sans makeup in preparation for my workout, but COME ON!) and that I was very interested in joining their facility- he still refused my 10 day pass. He told me that because I wasn't a resident of Hawaii he could not issue me the pass. I even have a government issued I.D. with my Hawaiin address on it! The entire experience was humilliating, frustrating and a total and complete waste of time. I was treated like a child, by someone that I am sure is at least 5 years my junior and was treated with utter disrespect. I am trying out Gold's Gym which is 25 minutes away and it will be my pleasure to pay for the extra gas it will take me to get as far away as possible from the Hawaii Kai Gold's Gym.

Pros: Coveinient location

Cons: Rude Staff, Would not honor
