YOU MUST MAKE RESERVATIONS FOR DINNER. At least give them a day's notice. You might not be able to get in on the day of (I know because my friend couldn't get us in). Otherwise, you WILL be waiting at the bar until a table opens. The food is worth the wait. Hot, flavorful, with very generous portions. All the smells and textures of local kine cooking. The only thing that was lacking was ambience. However, this doesn't seem to be the main reason why people go there. Even with the loudness of people speaking and the televisions turned to sports channels the food was DEFINITELY worth it. THE FRIED RICE IS TO DIE FOR!!!

Pros: Onolicious food, great wait staff (when they can get to you 'cause it's so busy!)

Cons: Too noisy...don't even THINK about intimate dinner conversation. But VERY NICE and boisterous for a group gathering.

We found Side Street Inn through a mention in Gourmet Magazine! Great food, huge portions so best to order family style. Don't miss the poke, fried rice and fried pork chops. The salads are good, too. They've added valet parking at dinnertime which makes access super easy. It gets very crowded at night so call for reservations if you can, otherwise try to find a seat at the bar for drinks and pupu while you wait. Keep your eyes out for big-time chefs like Alan Wong, who visit Side Street for some local comfort food.

Food is good but the atmosphere is not. You get to order at the counter and the food is brought out to you. All food is very abundant and is served in a styrofoam box. All local food, mostly plate lunches served with two scoops of rice, macaroni salad or tossed green salad, brown or white rice. All lunches are less than $10. Parking available accross the street in the parking garage. I had the furukake crusted mahi mahi. Three pieces of fish served with a hot mustard dressing on a bed of brown rice and a tossed salad with 1000 island dressing. My wife ordered the fried rice (enough for three) and a huge bag of crinckle cut french fries. Another ordered the teri beef (kind of chewy). Another ordered the cheeseburger (huge beef patty-larger than the bun) served with french fries. Ambiance? It has none. A bunch of TVs showing sports. We ate amoungst the local workers (mostly men). Only open for 3 hours, so make sure you get there during the lunch rush.
