Sephora in th Ala Moana Center is a great place to check out new beauty products. They carry mostly higher-end beauty lines, like Lancome, Dior, and Clinique, but also offer a Sephora line that is a little more reasonable. My favorite is the Sephora nailpolish that comes in little bottles, for $4. Great for trying out new colors! The staff is helpful, but can be a little pushy at times.

PROS: selection, new products, helpful staff

CONS: somewhat pricey

Bright lights, red carpet and designer cosmetics bring Hollywood makeup essentials to the masses.

This glitzy beauty boutique is covered wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling in fragrances, cosmetics and skin-care essentials. Ralph Lauren, Christian Dior and Shiseido are alongside harder-to-find brands like BeneFit, Interface and Nars. Everything is available for sampling and salespeople are eager to help clients dabble with new products. You're not here to bargain hunt, though. Expect to pay top dollar.
